Valle del Arroyo is located in the heart of the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche Natural Park, right on the border between Los Marines and Cortelazor and close to Aracena.

The Sierra de Aracena is one of the oldest agricultural landscapes in Europe. Cows, sheep and the famous Iberian pigs – known as ‘pata negra’ – graze among olive trees, holm and cork oaks. Their free-range diet of grass and acorns is key to the sweetness that has made Jamon Iberico world famous. In the near-by town of Jabugo, we highly recommned you visit and tour one of the curing cellars, where rich aromas fill the air.
GRUTA DE LAS MARAVILLAS
The Gruta de las Maravillas in Aracena is one of the most iconic destinations in the province of Huelva.
This spectacular cave complex features underground lakes, galleries full of color, and unique geological formations that amaze every visitor. Located just a few minutes from Valle del Arroyo, it’s the perfect experience to complete your stay and discover one of Andalusia’s major attractions.
CORTELAZOR AND LOS MARINES
The origins of Cortelazor date back to Roman times, with evidence of human presence around 1500 BC.
Cortelazor’s economy is based mainly on small-scale production of cork, olive trees and vineyards. There are also some small pig and goat farms.
You will be surprised by the warm generous nature of the local people.
The village of Los Marines has been declared a cultural heritage site and the 16th-century church of Nuestra Señora de Gracia has an impressive façade. Los Marines was settled by Galician immigrants in the 16th century.
The area is one of the most beautiful in the province of Huelva, covered with dense forests of pine, holm oak, cork oak and chestnut trees.

ARACENA
Aracena, capital of the region, shares its name with the mountains in which it is located and with the surrounding natural park which is one of the most important protected areas in Andalusia.
In the centre of Aracena there are numerous important cultural monuments, including the old castle and the Priory Church, where the Arab influence is clearly visible.
SIERRA DE ARACENA AND PICOS DE AROCHE NATIONAL PARK
At the western end of the Sierra Morena mountain range, in the north of the province of Huelva, lies the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche Natural Park.
The park is characterised by its extensive forests, relatively high rainfall, temperate climate and a rich interesting natural and cultural heritage.
The landscape varies according to altitude and humidity. Meadows full of oak trees give way to cork oaks, while in the higher parts there are forests of Pyrenean oak, such as in Solana de los Bonales.
Thanks to the large expanses of green pastures, ideal for raising and feeding Iberian pigs, the resulting pork industry represents an important part of the economy of many towns, such as Cumbres Mayores and Jabugo.
